About Hansell Photography

HI! I am Laura! I love capturing moments. Big moments, little moments, fleeting moments, OMG moments, ANY and ALL moments! I am a mother to a preschooler, who hates to have his picture taken, and a wife of 11 years to my best friend, who is an engineer. We live in the country! The city just was not for us so we live where the little boy can run and play, the husband and tear stuff apart, the views are glorious, the air is clean (even if it does occasionally smell of eu de pig... or cow) and the drive to town is relaxing. I use all natural light and shoot on location in the the greater IOWA region. After all this great state is not that big... From the south west corner to the north central areas of Iowa although I have been known to travel east on occasion. Together we can decide where best to capture your moments. Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have or to schedule your session. Looking forward to hearing from you!!

I absolutely LOVE this young couple!! Some might remember Alexis from her senior pictures. I had called her late last spring to do photos of her and Brandon just for fun. Little did I know that by the time it cooled off enough to actually stand being outside, the leaves would have changed, and he would have popped the question!

This little family had a rough summer. A fire took their house and everything in it. I can't imagine going through something like that. To top off the crap sundae the insurance company decided to be butts… I'm so thankful no one in the family was injured. These photos are the start of rebuilding their family photo collection.

The oldest little girl is in my son's kindergarten class and was his 'girlfriend' almost all last year.

Back behind Katrena and Barry's house is a bunch of trees, in this big bunch of trees is a ravine. I had the family sitting on the hill side and I had just got done telling them my number rule is to not let me step backwards off of anything… and then I stepped in horse… stuff… so I had to come up with rule #2… No letting me step in doodoo of any kind… I have no clue why Katrena found that so funny!

What do you do when the 3 year old wants to pick her spot??? Ha! I just had to work around it because it was about the only time she would smile! I love kids!

Early August found me taking family photos of my sister and her family. I don't know what she threatened her boys with but they were good considering they had their cousins watching them behind me… their boy cousins… boys can be hilarious sometimes!

I am gonna have to talk her into redoing these those. She has lost more weight and is really looking great. I know she isn't done yet but can you ever really have too many family photos… Especially after you have some weight and no longer want to look at the old you everyday on your wall… not to mention that Major and Hunter both look so much older even since August. Why do they have to grow up so fast???
